Clean Energy for Transportation
With a publicly financed global leader
successfully engaged Ford, BMW
and Isuzu Motors in alternative fuel programs to replace oil-based
fuels. Working with a team of engineers and technicians we designed and
built state of the art natural gas and hydrogen fuel systems
cooperatively with some of the world's leading vehicle and internal
combustion engine makers. We also built ultra-low emissions test
vehicles that received international recognition and acclaim.
Internet Services

Bought a Vancouver computer networking
company and transformed it into
a business-to-business
Internet services company. Merged this company with a newly public Internet firm and successfully
integrated five Internet service providers in Western Canada. Grew the business by more than 100%
annually. Attracted and retained top regional sales management and created a new group focused on
strategic Internet business services eventually driving a large part of company revenues.

Headed a new business unit to design, manufacture and sell sophisticated cable TV headends to multiple
system cable television operators. Obtained reference sales in New York and Toronto and targeted
technologically innovative operators as our first market segment within the USA. Established the new
standard for cable TV companies in North America, Hong Kong, China and Taiwan. Won 8 out of 10
major orders in the USA for large city headend systems valued at $250,000 to $1,000,000

Over a 19 year career with a National
Canadian industrial chemical
distributor I was promoted to vice
president sales,
director on the board and corporate secretary. The company had seven branches from Montreal to Vancouver serving
a broad range of industries and manufacturing sectors.
Directed seven Branch Managers and 18 Technical Sales Representatives to reach annual sales and gross profits targets.
Attained largest sales and profits increase in company history while establishing standards and incentives to improve
individual performance .
Introduced to BC plonk in the 60's, I organized a team of like-minded students at BCIT and toured the three wineries
noted for sweet, uninteresting wines in order to fulfil the requirements of a term paper entitled "Winemaking in BC".
While living in Alberta for periods in the 70's and 80's I was exposed to wine clubs like the Society for American Wines,
which allowed me to organize tastings and meet winemakers from California. I got hooked on Napa Chardonnays and
Cabernet Sauvignons. I was also a student of rieslings from the major regions of Germany and became very interested
in late harvest wines from the Rheingau. My first case lot purchases in the early 70's was an Orvieto from Italy followed closely
by a Chateau-neuf-de-Pape. When earnings improved in the 80's I was able to stock my cellar with more interesting wines from
every major region in Europe. My goal was to share my wine with family and friends and became the centerpiece of most social gatherings.
Since 2000 I became active in local wine societies such as the BC Wine Appreciation Society and the Southworld Wine Society.
BC wineries were sprouting up at such a pace that my cellar became somewhat BC-centric, which opened a door to wines from
south of the equator. Australian Shiraz, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, South African Pinotage and Chenin Blanc, Chilean Carmenere
and Argentinean Malbecs along with fabulous red blends, sterling Rieslings, interesting Chardonnays, Merlots, Viogniers, Torrontes,
and Gewurztraminers added interest to the cellar and resultant events. I now consult to the retail wine trade in BC in addition to my duties
as co-chair and cellarmaster for the Southworld Wine Society. Learning every day - so much wine, so little time.
